This manor house is generally believed to date back to the 15th century (when it was renovated), but its origins go back much further. Located on La Claise, at the entrance to La Brenne, it was the seat of a fiefdom that belonged to Méobec Abbey. In the 13th and 14th centuries, it belonged to the Parnac family, then became the property of the lords of Chabenet and many others over the centuries.
All that remains of the manor house today is an elegant 15th-century main building on three levels plus an attic, flanked by a square stair tower with a pointed arch main entrance door. It has also retained a round tower, which is the former dovecote.
This residence is in need of renovation, while taking care to preserve the vestiges of the past that give it its identity, including its well located in a wall of the living room, as this noble country residence was built to be self-sufficient for several months if necessary.
Today, the first floor features a large kitchen and a large living room, a bathroom with shower, laundry room, toilet, cellar, and pantry in the basement. The stone staircase leads to the second floor, where there are two landings leading to four bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms, a toilet, and then on the third floor, two large rooms that are not currently habitable, and finally the attic, which has a magnificent inverted boat-shaped roof structure. From the bedroom windows, you will have a magnificent view of the river that borders the property, surrounded by green meadows and woods covering approximately 11.5 hectares.
The manor's outbuildings have also stood the test of time, so you will have a small house to renovate, a barn with a canopy, and another large stone building, former stables with an attic above, one end of which has been converted into a small hunting lodge, for all kinds of activities, tourist or otherwise. You will be in the countryside, yet only 15 km from a shopping area in Châteauroux and 10 minutes from the A20 motorway.
